Jim Moye is one of the country’s leading lab technicians and experts on emerging digital technology. He has worked in the film lab business since 1975 and is in charge of digital operations for Monaco Digital Film Labs. His experience covers all areas of production and post including film, video, and digital capture. He has worked extensively with independents, Hollywood cinematographers, and commercial producers. Jim designed and constructed Monaco’s proprietary CRT film recorder and oversees Monaco’s scanning, recording, and digital intermediate operations. Having worked in laboratories for thirty years, Jim’s background of traditional film post is a huge asset in Monaco’s continuing relationship with emerging digital media technology. |

As Managing Director of Monaco Digital Film Labs, Rob Monaco handles all matters relating to business administration. In his seventeen years with the company Rob has also served as Sales Manager and from 2001 – 2002 he was president of the Association of Cinema Video Labs (ACVL). He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Southern California. |

John Carlson received his BA in film from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and completed his film MA at San Francisco State. He began his career as a cinematographer and color film timer prior to founding Monaco’s video division and beginning his twenty-year run as Chief Colorist. His reputation as a colorist extends nationally with credits such as "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" and the Academy Award-winning "Behind the Shadow of the Stars." He has taught and lectured since 1984 at San Francisco State and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He is past National Sections President of SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) and First Vice President of ACVL. He is currently President of the Northern California Production Community (NCPC) and serves on the board of the Bay Area Film Alliance. |

In his sixteen years with Monaco Digital Film Labs, Scott Smerdon has been a key coordinator in maintaining the company’s daily processing in printing operations as well as supervising their restoration and preservation division. He is now also closely involved in digital operations. Scott has worked on most of Monaco’s preservation projects, including Sony’s "Wattstax" and the restoration of the Zapruder Film for the National Archives and Records Administration. He supervised the restoring of John Sayles’ "Brother From Another Planet", working in collaboration with the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Scott is a graduate of San Francisco State University. |

As Senior Colorist, Will Smith brings over eight years of experience working for Monaco Video’s telecine department. Will has a strong following among documentary producers working in the field of extreme sports (snow boarding, motorcycling, surfing, etc.) Additionally, Will has worked on the production crew of various surfing documentaries, including the nationally recognized "Mavericks", featuring the infamous monster wave off the coast of California’s Half Moon Bay. Will’s telecine work is often featured on ESPN2 and Fuel TV. He is a graduate of San Francisco State’s Film Production Program. |

William McLane has been Monaco Video’s engineer for the past thirteen years. His background with video engineering and telecine has been key to keeping the video facility on-line and operating. As is typical with boutique video facilities, Bill stays well versed in issues regarding telecine, video decks, and computer software and hardware maintenance. Prior to joining Monaco, Bill worked as an Engineer for the Bank of America’s in house video department, as well as various post facilities in Southern California. |
