Featured Event: Jim Moye to Present Digital Workshop for FAF

Jim Moye / FAF to lecture on state of digital technology

Jim Moye is one of the country’s leading lab technicians and experts on emerging digital technology. He has worked in the film lab business since 1975 and is in charge of digital operations for Monaco Digital Film Labs. His experience covers all areas of production and post including film, video, and digital capture. He has worked extensively with independents, Hollywood cinematographers, and commercial producers. Jim designed and constructed Monaco’s proprietary CRT film recorder and oversees Monaco’s scanning, recording, and digital intermediate operations.

Wednesday, December 7th 7:00 – 10:00 PM

Join Jim in Monaco’s new Digital Intermediate Color Correction Theater for a presentation on the state of digital intermediate technology. Monaco’s increasing involvement in high-resolution film scanning and recording now includes digital intermediate workstations to compliment their traditional post services. While demonstrating Assimilate’s Scratch digital intermediate software, Jim will explain the advantages of a resolution-independent, file-based workflow.

In addition to covering the stages of the digital intermediate process from pre-production to deliverables, Jim will also review scanning and recording options and technology. Demonstration screenings and comparisons of digital and 35mm projects along with a case study of the recently completed feature "The Darwin Awards" will give participants further insight to options, issues to consider, and costs.
